Mumbai, July 21: A fire broke out at Churchill Chamber building near iconic The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai's posh Colaba area on Sunday. Fire brigade officials were at the spot and an operation was underway to douse the raging flames. While nine people were rescued, one person was killed in the incident. The four-storey structure is located near The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.
According to initial reports, the fire erupted on the third floor of Churchill Chamber building on Merryweather Road in Colaba. In a video, firefighters in heavy gear were seen climbing up a steel ladder and spraying water from a third-floor window of the building to douse the raging blaze. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel is a heritage, five-star, luxury hotel built in the Saracenic Revival style in Colaba.
