Mumbai, September 30: The electric auto-rickshaws that will soon run in the Mumbai region is likely to have different colours than the traditional autos. According to a report in the Times of India, the autos that will run on electricity will have white hoods and blue body. The proposal for the same was also approved by the State Transport Authority (STA) before the model code of conduct (MCC) came into effect. The final permission for blue and white autos is remaining from the state government, which will only be possible after the Maharashtra Assembly elections 2019. “It is a good idea to have a different set of autos that will run on electricity,” a transport expert told the Times of India. He also said that these autos will be silent and environment-friendly.

Recently, the BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport) inducted a few electric-buses to its fleet, which have green number plates. "Earlier, the BEST had acquired six electric buses in Nov 2017. They added 10 more in September and will get another 30 by October-end. The programme has been delayed on account of the rains," Olectra Greentech COO Anand Swaroop told IANS.
