Mumbai, September 2: Mumbai, September 2: Mumbai's Crime Branch-7 successfully intervened and prevented a potential suicide attempt by a 28-year-old man grappling with severe financial distress. In a dire situation due to unemployment and mounting loan obligations, the individual resorted to sending an alarming email to numerous recipients, including the Mumbai Commissioner's office, financial institutions, and media outlets. In the email, he expressed his intent to use a poisonous injection for suicide.

According to multiple sources, promptly responding to the distressing communication, the police initiated a comprehensive search operation. Despite the individual's attempts to evade detection by frequently changing his location and switching off his mobile phone, the police managed to pinpoint his whereabouts near Mahatma Phule Hospital in Lamb Smear Nagar 2, Vikhroli (West). Further investigations unveiled a grim picture of the entire scenario leading up to the extreme measures - the man had lost his job and was unable to meet his loan EMI obligations, precipitating feelings of depression and despair. The police acted swiftly, ensuring his safety, and subsequently offered him counselling and support before handing him over to his parents. Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Tawade and his team, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Raj Tilak Roushan, executed the operation, averting a tragic outcome in a case underscoring the perils of financial hardship on mental well-being. In a similar incident, a 79-year-old man in Mumbai allegedly attempted to murder his ailing 76-year-old wife by stabbing her with a knife, then turned the weapon on himself, slashing his neck. The incident came to light when their domestic help arrived at their Mercury Society, Thakur village flat.
