Mumbai, October 2: Crowded local trains in Mumbai have been a nightmare for many, and claim several lives every year. Over 400 people have died due to falling off from crowded local trains so far in 2018, according to the data released by the Government Railway Police (GRP) in September. Here is a video in which a woman passenger is seen being saved from the claws of death by a fellow commuter.

In the video, the woman is seen standing at the gate of one of the compartments of a local train. She is seen leaning outside the speeding train. Suddenly, she loses her balance. She was about to fall off the train, when a fellow passenger managed to pull her inside. The caption of the video suggests that the woman was standing at the door; however, there was space inside the train. Mumbai Local Trains Claimed Over 400 Lives So Far In 2018, 871 People Suffered Serious Injuries Due to Falling Off From Crowded Trains.

The video of the incident has been shared by over 1500 people so far. In the comment section, many slammed the woman for standing at the door when the train was not crowded. As many as 406 people have died after falling off from Mumbai local trains from January to July 31 this year. Besides, 871 people suffered serious injuries just seven months.

Last year, 360 people lost their lives after falling off local trains till July, and 654 people died through the year. “Infrastructure problems are leading to overcrowding in local trains, which is a serious issue and can only be solved by increasing train services," Anoop Shukla, senior divisional security commissioner (DSC ), Railway Protection Force (RPF) told a leading daily.
