Mumbai, August 21: A Central Railway assistant loco pilot, Sujit Jayant (38), was found dead by apparent suicide at his Kalyan residence on Saturday, August 19. While his relatives and colleagues asserted that he was subjected to harassment by his senior, railway officials dismissed the allegations. Jayant's demise came to light when neighbours noticed a foul smell emanating from his home and alerted the police.

According to multiple reports, although no suicide note was found at the scene, Jayant's relatives have filed a complaint asserting that he was subjected to severe harassment by his superiors, which allegedly drove him to this extreme step. Their claims extend to allegations of him being granted an extended leave without pay for three months under the purview of his superior. Authorities are currently in the process of verifying the accuracy of these allegations. Jadavpur University Student Death: Dissatisfied Over First Report, UGC Serves Another Notice to JU Authorities in Swapnodeep Kundu Suicide Case.

Responding to the distressing news, some of Jayant's colleagues had organised a protest outside the Kalyan railway station's motorman office. The Railway personnel from Kolsewadi police station have initiated an accidental death report. In an effort to uncover the truth behind the allegations, police are delving into Jayant's phone call records and WhatsApp conversations, in addition to interviewing his coworkers. Bandra-Worli Sea Link Suicide Case: Body of Businessman Tikam Makhija Who Jumped From Sea Link in Mumbai, Recovered From Arabian Sea.

In a similar incident, a Bank of India employee, identified as Majumdar, reportedly took his own life, leaving behind a suicide note detailing alleged harassment by both police and legal troubles. The note outlined a past loan fraud case involving certain bank officials, in which the CBI cleared Majumdar but continued its investigation against others. The situation escalated when a customer filed a complaint against the bank at the Ramgarh police station in Jharkhand, leading to Majumdar's alleged harassment by police officials. Distressed by the ordeal, he committed suicide.
