Mumbai, September 20: In a tragic incident,  a portion of a four-storey building collapsed in Mumbai's Crawford Market area on Friday. According to a tweet by ANI, the incident took place at Lokmanya Tilak Road in South Bombay region. No casualties have been reported so far. As soon as the incident was reported, seven fire brigade vehicles were pressed into service. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) PRO, no person is trapped as the building was already vacated. Several ambulances and rescue vehicles were rushed to the spot.

Earlier this month on September 10, a similar incident was reported from Crawford Market area where a portion of a three-storey building had collapsed. According to reports, the portion of the structure known as Yusuf building collapsed at night around 9:13 pm. The structure was classified as an MHADA Cess building. In July, at least 14 people lost their lives after four-storey Kesarbhai building collapsed in Mumbai’s Dongri area. An FIR was registered against three people under sections 304 (A), 338, & 337 in connection with the incident. Reports inform that in 2017, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had already warned the residents about the dilapidated condition of the building.
