Mumbai, July 31: A Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus caught fire in Mumbai's Matunga on Wednesday, July 31, 2019. The incident took place near Maheshwari Udyan. According to officials, the bus was on its way from Mulund to Worli. All the commuters are safe as the passenger bus was evacuated on time. According to reports, the bus driver Sattu Fernandez saw smoke coming from the bus engine and alerted conductor Rajendra Chauhan and passengers. All the commuters were told to evacuate the bus. In the incident, no one was injured. Later, Matunga Police and Fire department were informed. The fire officials rushed to the spot and doused the flames.

Speaking to mid-day, the Best chief spokesperson said that the incident took place at 4:15 pm and the vehicle was on route no 27. Meanwhile, the bus belongs to Worli depot and the BEST administration will investigate the case.
