Mumbai: 990 Ola, Uber Drivers Caught Violating Rules, 36 Found Without Driving Licences in Airport Crackdown

Mumbai, December 26: In a recent crackdown at Mumbai Airport, 990 Ola and Uber drivers were found to be violating Motor Vehicles Act. From not having a driver's license or a mandatory badge to drive a taxi, several drivers were not to be not complying with the rules, according to a Mumbai Mirror report.
RTO officials carried out the checks at the airport after several customers complained about cancellations and a difference in time between the scheduled and the actual pick-up times. Fines amounting to Rs 21.77 lakh were collected during the drive, which started on October 15. Licenses of some of the drivers are also likely to be suspended for up to a year. Almost 36 drivers were found to be driving without a license. In September, Union Transport Ministry had increased the fine amount from Rs 500 to Rs 5,000. There were almost 335 drivers who didn't have batches and 680 were not displaying them.
