Mumbai, February 15: City police have arrested 45-year-old sweeper at Jamshedjee JeejeeBhoy hospital, popularly known as JJ hospital, for allegedly making lewd gestures at minor and for harassing hospital's nurses in the past. According to mid-day, the incident took place on February 9, 2019, when a 17-year-old girl, a resident of Jalgaon, was attending her ailing grandmother at JJ Hospital. When the minor was waiting outside the operation room, Waghela allegedly made obscene gestures at her. Firstly, the victim ignored the act but the accused continued the gestures past midnight. Later, the minor narrated the whole incident to her aunt, who approached the hospital's administrative staff to complaint about Waghela. The hospital's office suggested them going to the police. A hospital employee told mid-day, "Many nurses had warned him (Waghela) not to enter their changing rooms and washrooms without knocking but he would simply say 'sorry' and continue such acts."
Based on the victim's complaint, Waghela has been arrested by the JJ Marg police. The accused has been booked under section 354D (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code and section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
