Mumbai, July 12: A three-year-old remained missing on Thursday after falling into a manhole in Ambedkar Nagar area of Goregaon. The toddler has been identified as Divyansh who fell into an open manhole on Wednesday night. A search and rescue operation was underway to locate Divyansh. A CCTV camera captured moments when Divyansh fell into the drainage.

Soon after the boy fell, Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) launched a search and rescue operation to locate the three-year-old. The drainage department of the city is also involved in the operation. A search was done in drainage line in the 10km area and a wall was broken with help of a JCB machine. However, Divyansh remained missing. In a video, rescuers are seen searching in the drain.

The CCTV footage of the incident, which took place around 10:24 pm on Wednesday night, showed Divyansh walking alone along the sides of a busy road in suburban Goregaon. Unaware of an open manhole in front of him, he walked towards the road and slipped into the drain. The drain was hidden behind what appears to a telephone line box.

Search operation continues to locate Divyansh who fell into an open manhole:

A similar incident occurred in Punjab in June this year when a two-year-old boy fell into 150-foot-deep abandoned borewell. The boy, identified as  Fatehveer Singh, was pulled out 110 hours after falling into the deep borewell in a village in Sangrur district. The child was brought to the PGI hospital in Chandigarh, some 130 km from the accident spot, soon after he was retrieved from the well. He had died.
