Mumbai, July 21: Two women drowned at Mumbai’s Juhu Beach on Sunday. The incident took place at around 5:45 pm. Among the deceased, one was a teenager. According to reports, the women went into the rough sea for a swim ignoring repeated warnings by locals and beach guards of not venturing into the water. The deceased were identified as 29-year-old Maya Mahendra and 16-year-old Nisha Karanpal Singh. Their bodies were fished out almost an hour later. As per the police, both the deceased hailed from Sion suburb and had gone to Juhu for a picnic when the tragic incident took place. The bodies were sent to the Cooper Hospital for autopsy.
Earlier this month, two people drowned at sea near Marine Drive due to high tide. According to reports, a man drowned in the sea, while another man who jumped to save him but got trapped in the sea.
