Mumbai, December 6: In a shocking incident from Mumbai, a woman gave birth to a stillborn baby in a public toilet in Amboli and left the baby's corpse there itself, reported Mirror Now. The 19-year-old woman also tried to dispose of the body by flushing it but ran away after she heard people entering the public toilet. Police have registered a case against the woman, identified as Supriya Surya Kant Kanekar, a resident of Amboli. The incident took place on Monday when she went to use the public facility, where she gave birth to a baby girl. Police officials have sent the dead infant to the local hospital for a postmortem.
During police investigations, the woman confessed to the crime. Amboli Police Station Officer Bharat Gaikwad told Mirror Now that the woman is sent to a hospital for treatment as she was unfit due to an unassisted childbirth. Gaikwad further added after she recovers a legal action will be taken against her.
Earlier this year, a stillborn baby was found onboard an Imphal-Guwahati-New Delhi AirAsia flight. The infant was lifeless in one of the plane's lavatories and was discovered by AirAsia's crew. After the investigation, it was found that the lifeless foetus belonged to a taekwondo player, who said she was not aware of her pregnancy. Later, she was booked under section 318 for concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body.
