Mumbai, November 28: In a tragic incident, 15 stray cows and two bulls were found to be dead in Dahanu after they reportedly consumed pesticide. According to a Times of India report, on the preliminary probe, it was found out that the cattle ate crops that were sprayed with Thymate, a pesticide.
The cattle were found lying on the side of the fields with froth coming from their mouth. The Livestock Development Officer was informed, who came and took samples of the saliva from the carcasses before sending it to the Forensic Lab for tests. A case of accidental death was registered and police are trying to find out who owned the cattle as till now, no one has come forward to take ownership. Police are further not ruling out the angle that cattle may have been fed food laced with pesticide to prevent them from entering the fields and causing damage to the crops.
