New Delhi, Sept 25: Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani topped the Barclays Hurun India Rich List 2018, with net wealth of Rs 3,71,000 crore. The report has pegged Ambani's daily earnings at Rs 300 crore per day.
Following Ambani, the top 5 in the elite listing includes SP Hinduja & Family (Rs 1,59,000 crore), LN Mittal & Family (Rs 1,14,500 crore), Wipro chief Azim Premji (Rs 96,100 crore) and Dilip Shanghvi (Rs 89,000 crore), ranked as 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively. Uday Kotak, chief of Kotak Mahindra Bank, secured the 6th position with a total wealth of Rs 78,600 crores, followed by Cyrus S Poonawalla of Serum Institute of India whose net worth is reported to be Rs 73,000 crores.
The 8th position has been bagged by Gautam Adani with net assets worth Rs 71,200 crores, whereas the Cyrus Mistry and Shapoor Mistry have tied for the 9th position with personal wealths of Rs 69,400 crore each.
The Barclays Hurun India Rich List features the richest individuals in the nation, whose total personal assets value not less than Rs 1,000 crore. In what signals an increase in the number of billionaires in India, the list this year featured 831 businessmen, as opposed to 617 in 2017.
The report signals an optimistic trend for the super-rich in India, claiming that despite the rupee depreciation and rise in fuel prices due to incrementing crude oil rates, the wealth accumulation and creation will remain at an "all-time high" in the nation.
