Rewa, July 27: A disturbing case from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, has raised serious questions. A 13-year-old boy is alleged to have watched porn videos on his mobile phone, then raped and murdered his 9-year-old sister. The family is accused of covering up the crime and misleading both neighbours and the police.

On April 24, 2024, the body of the 9-year-old girl was found in the family’s courtyard. Relatives claimed she had been sleeping outside with her brother and mother, who had gone inside due to illness. They initially told neighbours that the child had been bitten by an insect. An SIT, led by Additional SP Vivek Lal, was formed to investigate the case. The team questioned the mother, the 13-year-old brother, and two older sisters, aged 18 and 17, as well as around 50 other people. During the investigation, the SIT grew suspicious of the family, finding no evidence of an outsider's involvement. Police had conducted DNA-Tests of 55 people, however none matched with the sample found on minors body. The family accused the Police of negligence and inefficiency, as three months already passed, since they lost their younger daughter for ever. Finally, the police took the brother for a test and his sperm matched with the sample.

According to Amar Ujala report, the accused was watching porn on his mobile phone at night. Seeing his sister sleeping next to his bed, he lost his control and sexually exploited the child. When the Girl said, that she would complain to Dad, he allegedly killed her.

As the investigation progressed, family members eventually confessed to their involvement in the cover-up. The 13-year-old boy, his mother, and his two sisters have been charged with rape, murder, and concealing evidence. Police have arrested all four people, including two minors, and sent them to jail on charges of rape and murder of a girl.
