Bhopal, July 27: In an incident in Madhya Pradesh, mother of a minor girl, who was allegedly raped by a 22-year-old man, laid a trap for her daughter's rapist. The rape is said to have taken place four days back, according to media reports.

The accused, identified as one Sameer Khan, fell for the trap and was nabbed by the police, after the mother dialed on 'Dial-100', according to a report in English daily The Times of India. 

The police station in-charge of Shyamla Hills police station, named SI BPS Bains, said that the survivor is a class 9 student.

The report goes on to mention that for past one month, the accused stalked the victim. The accused, Sameer Khan, resides near the house of the victim and reportedly runs a tailor shop. The accused is said to have followed the victim for a few days and even offered lift to the the victim till school several times. The girl had initially refused the lifts, said the police station in-charge.

The police then informed that on July 22, Khan, on the pretext of dropping the girl to school, took the victim to an isolated spot and raped her. The rape spot is reportedly said to be near Kerwa Dam. The accused also warned the victim and threatened her of dangerous consequences, if the victim told anyone about the incident.

The report mentioned that the girl, on Wednesday, confided in her mother and told her about the incident. This is when the victim's mother decided to lay a trap for the accused. The girl's mother, along with her elder sister, followed Khan's bike, after the victim took a lift from Khan on Thursday. When Khan reached the spot around 3 pm, the mother caught the accused and called the police of 'Dial-100.'

The accused, Sameer Khan, tried to run away after police reached the spot, but was caught by the police and arrested. A case of rape, abduction and molestation has been registered against the accused, confirmed police officer Bains.
