Bhopal, September 3: Even as India celebrates its largest ever medal tally at Asiad at the Asian Games 2018 which concluded on Sunday, a shocking and  appalling piece of information from Madhya Pradesh regarding a sportsman is bound to leave one and all angry with the way sportsperson are treated in our  country. Manmohan Singh Lodhi, a national level para-sprinter from Narsinghpur, talking to news agency ANI said that he has started begging on the streets of Bhopal since the Madhya Pradesh state government did not fulfill its promise of providing him a government job. The athlete said that other promises made to him after he won medals at the national level have also not been fulfilled. Check the pictures in the tweet below:

Speaking to ANI, the athlete said that, "I have met Chief Minister four times, he made promises but didn't fulfil any of them. I am financially weak. I need money to play & also to run my family." He also added that if the Chief Minister does not help him, he will earn his livelihood by begging on the streets. Reportedly, Lodhi had lost one of his hands while performing the labour work but he did not get disheartened by the incident as he went on to give an impressive performance during the 2017 National Games.

Coming to India's performance at the Asian Games 2018, India recorded the highest number of medals at the Asian Games. India ended its Asiad campaign with a total of 69 medals at 2018 Games. The Indian contingent won 15 Gold medals (equalling their previous best at 1951 Asian Games), 24 Silver medals, and 30 Bronze medals. ASIAN GAMES 2018 MEDAL WINNERS.
