Kolkata, August 7:  In yet another case of moral policing, a 25-year-old college student was allegedly threatened with rape by a middle-aged woman for wearing shorts and T-shirt on the roads of South Kolkata. The girl, a student of Jadavpur University and a former Presidency University was slapped twice when she tried to raise her voice against the offender. Kolkata Girl in T-Shirt & Shorts Asked to Dress 'Decently' by Housing Society President, Files Moral Policing Complaint.

According to a Times of India report, the girl had stepped out of her PG wearing shorts, when the woman in question openly abused saying 'Girls like her deserve to be raped.' She approached the traffic policeman, but she continued to hit the girl twice. However, fled from the spot on realising that she is being surrounded by too many women. Police have caught hold of the CCTV cameras from the spot where the incident took place. An FIR against the accused has been registered. This is reportedly the second moral policing case in the last 15 days in the city.

A young girl was not only asked to dress 'decently', but she was also abused and filthy comments were passed on her dressing style by an elderly man in her society. The incident took place when the girl wearing a t-shirt and shorts had gone to the society office to complain about water pipeline leakage at her apartment.
