Lucknow, October 19: An Iranian national approached the Uttar Pradesh police recently after she was allegedly harassed online and received threats, too. The woman, identified as Faeze Arvandi, is reportedly married to a YouTuber based in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. In her complaint, Arvandi claimed that she received several messages from social media users and trolls who threatened her over her interfaith marriage.
The complainant, who is from Iran, also alleged that most of the messages asked her to return to her country. Seeking police protection, the 24-year-old Iranian also shared screenshots of the threats she received and a list of blocked users. According to a TOI report, 28-year-old Diwakar Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, married Arvandi, who is from Hamadan city. The couple tied the knot earlier in March after a three-year "distance courtship." They met through a photo-sharing site, where Kumar used to share his travel content. After the meeting, the two started chatting online. Speaking about his relationship, Diwakar Kumar said that when he reached Iran to marry Arvandi, he was welcomed by their politicians. "But here, she has received online threats to her life. We hardly step out of our house nowadays," he added. Satpal Antil, SSP of Moradabad, assured that strict action will be taken against the culprits. He also said that a case would be registered based on the findings of the probe. However, the couple has not been provided with any protection so far.
