Monsoon to Hit Delhi-NCR Between July 3-5, Cloudy Sky and Light Rains Likely on Tuesday
Rrain activity in Delhi and surrounding areas is likely to begin from Tuesday onwards. Moisture-laden easterly winds will trigger rains in the city in the next three to four days, the weatherman said.
New Delhi, July 2: After reeling under severe heatwave conditions for months, the national capital will finally get some respite as monsoon is likely to hit Delhi-NCR between July 3 and 5. The Weatherman said rain activity is likely to begin from Tuesday, July 2, onwards. Over the last few months, normal life in Delhi was hit as mercury breached the 43-degree Celsius mark in some parts of the city. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), monsoon is expected to hit Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh this week.
On July 2, the minimum temperature in Delhi was hovering around 30 degrees Celsius, two notches above the normal. On Monday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 41.6 and 30.6 degrees Celsius respectively. On Monday, the Safdarjung Observatory recorded a high of 41.6 degrees Celsius, five notches more than normal and and a low of 30.6 degrees Celsius. Delhi has witnessed its second driest June in 26 years, recording just 6.6 mm rainfall against the normal of 64.1 mm.
The weatherman has forecast cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle later in the day, which is likely to bring some relief form the heat. According to reports, the humidity in the morning in the national capital was recorded at 50 per cent. The maximum temperature is likely to settle at 40 degrees Celsius, a meteorological department official said.
On June 30 private weather agency, Skymet Weather, informed that due to western disturbance, dust storms with strong winds and short spell of light rainfall activity, are expected over Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad during the coming four to five days.
