Monsoon Covers Entire Country Before Schedule; IMD Says Delhi May Receive Widespread Rainfall For The Next 3 Days

New Delhi, June 29: The national capital is set to witness fairly widespread rainfall for the next three days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said on Friday. "Usually monsoon covers the country by July 15 but this time it has come early and today it has covered the entire country", Dr. Sathi Devi, India Meteorological Department said. Devi further added that Delhi will receive fairly widespread rainfall for the next 3 days.

Rain and thundershowers were observed at most places over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, East Rajasthan, east Uttar Pradesh, the IMD said. The MeT informed that Delhi remained overcast with light rain in most areas and similar conditions are believed to continue till Saturday, after which rain activity may dip.
According to MeT's daily monsoon report on Thursday, the southwest monsoon has advanced into some more parts of Gujarat region, some parts of East Rajasthan, remaining parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand, entire Madhya Pradesh, east Uttar Pradesh. The reports further inform that most parts of West Uttar Pradesh Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, entire Jammu & Kashmir and some parts of Punjab have been witnessing intermittent light rains.
