Monsoon 2019 Tracker: Rainfall Forecast in India; Progress of Southwest Monsoon Winds And Weather Prediction For Next 5 Days
Southwest monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of central Arabian Sea, Konkan and Maharashtra, some parts of north Arabian sea and south Gujarat and some more parts of Madhya Pradesh. Delhi and adjoining areas will also receive moderate pre-Monsoon rainfall today. Temperatures are expected to come down in the next couple of days.
New Delhi, June 25: Although the Monsoon has covered much of the peninsular and north-eastern India, rainfall has remained way below adequate so far, with the western coast yet to brace heavy rains of the season. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday confirmed the onset of Monsoon in Mumbai -- but the city did not witness any amount of precipitation since the morning.

Delhi and its adjoining region are also likely to receive moderate rain today, the weather forecasting agency predicted. The minimum and maximum temperatures of the national capital will hover around 26 degree Celsius and 34 degree Celsius with generally cloudy sky.
Apart from Mumbai and Delhi, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) at isolated places are very likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh.
"Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Konkan and Goa and Arunachal Pradesh. Heavy rainfall at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat region, West Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar and Andaman and Nicobar islands," the organisation added. Rough sea conditions are likely to prevail over southwest and west central Arabian Sea. The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into these areas.
Tracking The Movement of Southwest Monsoon Winds:
Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) passes through Lat. 21°N/Long. 60°E, Lat. 21°N/Long. 65°E, Veraval, Surat, Indore, Mandla, Pendra, Sultanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Mukteshwar and Lat. 31°N/Long. 80°.
The trough at mean sea level now runs from Punjab to Nagaland across south Haryana, south Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Assam.
The cyclonic circulation over Coastal Karnataka & neighbourhood now lies over east-central Arabian Sea & adjoining south Maharashtra between 3.1 and 5.8 km above mean sea level and tilting southwestwards with height.
An east-west shear zone between 3.1 & 3.6 km above mean sea level runs roughly along Lat. 16°N, across the above cyclonic circulation over east-central Arabian Sea & adjoining south Maharashtra.
The cyclonic circulation over south Gujarat & neighbourhood now lies over Gujarat region & adjoining areas of north Madhya Maharashtra and West Madhya Pradesh between 1.5 and 2.1 km above mean sea level.
The Western disturbance as a cyclonic circulation between 3.1 and 3.6 km above mean sea level over north Pakistan & adjoining Jammu and Kashmir has become less marked. However, the trough aloft with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along Long. 72°E to the north of Lat. 30°N persists.
A cyclonic circulation between 5.8 & 7.6 km above mean sea level lies over southwest Bay of Bengal off Tamil Nadu Coast.
A cyclonic circulation lies over Punjab & adjoining areas of Haryana & northwest Rajasthan and extends upto 3.1 km above mean sea level.
A Low Pressure Area is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood around 30th June.
The cyclonic circulation over East Madhya Pradesh & neighbourhood between 3.1 and 3.6 km above mean sea level has become less marked.
The cyclonic circulation extending upto 0.9 km above mean sea level over East Rajasthan and adjoining West Madhya Pradesh has become less marked.
