Monsoon 2019: Maharashtra, Gujarat to Receive Heavy Rainfall Over Weekend, Says IMD

The weather agency has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy falls at isolated places very likely over Coastal Maharashtra including Konkan, Gujarat, Goa and Odisha. Mumbai, September 6: Several parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat are likely to receive heavy rainfall over the weekend, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed. The weather agency has predicted extremely heavy falls at isolated places very likely over Coastal Maharashtra including Konkan, Gujarat, Goa and Odisha. "Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls very likely at isolated places over Vidarbha, Central Maharashtra and Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Gujarat. IMD Forecasts 99% Rainfall in August, 100% in September.

For Sunday, the IMD has predicted extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over Saurashtra and Kutch region in Gujarat. In its weather bulletin, the weather agency said that a heavy downpour is expected at isolated places over East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat Region. Apart from these regions including Odisha, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala. In the wake of the current weather conditions, strong winds are very likely to prevail over central and southwest Arabian Sea and central and adjoining south Bay of Bengal. Squally weather is likely to prevail over Gujarat-Odisha-north Coastal Andhra Pradesh coasts and north Andaman Sea and island.The organisation has advised fishermen not to venture into these areas for the next few days.
