Following the incessant rains in Mumbai over the last few weeks, IMD declared very heavy rainfall on Monday, as result of which, schools and colleges were shut. However, the city barely witnessed any rainfall on Monday.
The IMD had classified the city and suburbs under Code Orange suggesting heavy to very heavy rain on Monday, but it was later changed to Code Green suggesting moderate rain. On Monday, Colaba and Santacruz observatories of IMD recorded just 12.2 mm and 61.6 mm rainfall, respectively. IMD received severe criticism because of their prediction.
The Met department on Monday further predicted that the region is going to receive heavy rainfall during the next four to five days. Mumbaikars have been advised to remain alert by the administration. Pune schools and colleges remain shut for the second consecutive day because of the heavy rains and severe waterlogging across the city.
