Mumbai, October 20: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday predicted the occurrence of a thunderstorm accompanied by lightning in Maharashtra's Raigad district. According to a report of the news agency ANI, the meteorological department said that the thunderstorms will be accompanied by lightning on October 21 and 22 in the isolated places in Raigad. In the several parts of Mumbai and its adjoining areas including Thane, Palghar and Navi Mumbai, has been witnessing light showers for last two days. This development has brought the maximum temperature down to 26.7 degree Celsius. Based on the forecast, Mumbai could receive showers on Monday, when the state goes to poll.

The forecast may be worrying Thane, as the administration has put up over 800 polling booths in the open grounds. Meanwhile, the rains have brought relief to Mumbaikars from the scorching heat. Until 5: 30 pm on Saturday, October 19, the Colaba observatory of IMD had received 6.6 mm rain and Santacruz 7.4 mm.
