Mob Lynching in Jharkhand: 'Most Wanted' Criminal Beaten to Death in Dumka, FIR Registered

Dumka, August 1: In yet another incident of mob lynching in Jharkhand, a 'most wanted' criminal was beaten to death by a group of people. The incident took place in Chihuntia village of Dumka district on Wednesday. According to the police, three other criminals managed to escape. An FIR has been registered in connection with the murder.

"There were four thieves, three managed to escape. The thief who died was a most wanted criminal," Dumka SP YS Ramesh was quoted by news agency ANI as saying. Four villagers were taken into custody for questioning in connection with the incident. There have been several incidents of mob lynching in Jharkhand in recent months. In June, a youth Tabrez Ansari was tied to a pole and thrashed with sticks by a mob in Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharsawan district on the suspicion of theft. He succumbed to injuries on June 22. He was seen in a video being forced to chant "Jai Shri Ram" and "Jai Hanuman".
