Mumbai, December 21: Around 15 students were rushed to hospital following a stampede at a college festival at Jashoda Rang Mandir next to Mithibai College in Ville Parle on Thursday. According to reports, three were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The students were rushed to the hospital in an ambulance parked near the college. Meanwhile, seven were discharged from the hospital. The hall where the event was planned had a capacity of 3000-4000 and more than 10,000 invites were sold, reported The Times of India. Meanwhile, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) disaster cell authorities claimed that the presence of a celebrity at the venue attracted a lot of people which lead to overcrowding. Police have started an investigation into the matter to ascertain the exact cause of the event. Meanwhile, as per police officials, some students fainted due to suffocation caused by overcrowding in the hall.
