Mission 333 Seats: BJP’s Next Target in 2024 Lok Sabha Elections With Focus on Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala

The Bharatiya Janata Party which had achieved a landslide victory in the 2019 general elections has set a target of 333 parliamentary seats in the 2024 national elections, according to BJP national secretary in charge of Tripura and Andhra Pradesh, Sunil Deodhar.

New Delhi, May 28: The Bharatiya Janata Party which had achieved a landslide victory in the 2019 general elections has set a target of 333 parliamentary seats in the 2024 national elections, according to BJP national secretary in charge of Tripura and Andhra Pradesh, Sunil Deodhar. In an interview to Hindustan Times, the key strategist who moved from RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) to the saffron party said that to achieve 333 seat mark, the core states would be from West Bengal to Tamil Nadu. He added that for Mission 333, the BJP has to overcome the perception of being a "Hindu" party. In the parliamentary elections, the BJP won 25 of the 28 seats in Karnataka, 4 of the 17 in Telangana, but couldn't open its account in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. The party has plans to deliver similar results to those of West Bengal which went up from 2 to 18 seats, reported Hindustan Times.

“We will build the party structure from scratch; panna pramukhs at the booth levels will be appointed, the party together with the RSS will identify issues that need to be highlighted. For now, the focus will only be on the party and not building alliances,” Deodhar told HT.

In Kerala, the BJP walked away with 12.9 per cent total vote share but no seats even after having the highest numbers of shakas (branches) of RSS. In Andhra Pradesh, the party received 0.9 per cental total vote share, which is less than the NOTA percentage of 1.49 per cent.
