Missing IAF AN-32 Aircraft: ISRO Satellites Pressed Into Service to Locate Untraceable Plane That Took Off From Assam on June 3

New Delhi, June 4: A day after Indian Air Force's AN-32 transport aircraft went missing after taking off from Assam's Jorhat airbase, ISRO satellites were pressed into service to locate the plane. According to a tweet by ANI, the satellites have been activated over parts of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam to locate the missing AN-32 transport aircraft with 13 people on board. Apart from the ISRO satellites, Su-30MKI, C-130J Super Hercules and other assets are continuing search ops in cloudy weather in the northeastern state. IAF Missing AN-32 Aircraft Still Untraceable, No Wreckage Sighted So Far.
The Russian-origin Antonov AN-32 is a twin-engined military aircraft that can fly for up to four hours without refuelling. On Tuesday, the IAF in association with the Army and Indo Tibetan Border Police resumed the search operation for the AN-32 aircraft that has remained missing from the sky of Arunachal Pradesh. The IAF aircraft had 13 people onboard when it went missing. The 13 people include eight crew members and five passengers.
On Monday, the aircraft last contacted ground sources at 1 PM after taking off from Jorhat airbase. According to reports, the Antonov AN-32 military transport aircraft took off from the Assam airbase at 12:25 PM. The IAF in its statement said that on Monday, the plane went missing around 33 minutes after taking off from Jorhat in Assam for Arunachal's Menchuka near the border with China.
