One of the Congress' tallest leader in Maharashtra, Milind Deora has been appointed as Congress Mumbai chief, replacing Sanjay Nirupam, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2019.
Mumbai, March 25: One of the Congress' tallest leader in Maharashtra, Milind Deora has been appointed as Congress Mumbai chief, replacing Sanjay Nirupam, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2019. According to reports, Deora, Member of Parliament (MP) from South Mumbai constituency until 2014, is brought in to action for better results in the upcoming polls. Congress' 10th List of 38 Candidates For Lok Sabha Elections 2019.
Deora had also hinted that he didn't want to contest elections. Meanwhile, Sanjay Nirupam, who served two terms as an MP in the Rajya Sabha as a member from the Shiv Sena and Congress Party, has been fielded from Mumbai North-West seat.

The Indian National Congress on Monday released the tenth list of candidates for Maharashtra and West Bengal Lok Sabha elections. The opposition announced the names of 26 candidates. The names were announced for one Maharashtra candidate and 25 West Bengal candidate. The Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) has fielded Sanjay Nirupam from Mumbai North-West in Maharashtra. In West Bengal, Intaj Ali Shah from Krishnanagar, Suvra Ghosh from Howrah among others were fielded.
