Itanagar, October 11: An Mi-17 chopper of the Indian Air Force made an emergency landing in Arunachal Pradesh's Tuting, located nearly 500-km north of state capital Itanagar. No casualties were reported in the incident, confirmed the IAF, adding that all 16 people on board were safely evacuated.

"Today afternoon one Mi-17 helicopter on a routine mission from Tuting, Arunachal Pradesh force-landed West of Tuting. All 16 on-board are safe," said the statement issued by the  IAF. 17 People Killed in Ethiopian Military Chopper Crash in Oromia.

The M-17 chopper, which crash-landed in Tuting, was on a routine patrol mission earlier in the day. Due to a technical snag, the crew was forced to land it on emergency basis in Tuting, located close to the border with China.

In the past fortnight, two accidents involving defence choppers have been reported. On October 4, an IAF microlight aircraft crashed in western Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat. Both the pilots on board were safely evacuated.

The accident was preceded by a crash involving the Indian Navy's Chetak helicopter in Tamil Nadu's Rajali on October 1. The CH422 Chetak crashed while carrying out dry winching dual sortie. Although no casualties were reported, the chopper was left significantly damaged.
