Mexico Deports 311 Indians for Illegally Entering the Country in Attempt to Sneak Into US

Over 300 Indian nationals were deported to New Delhi by the Mexican immigration authorities for illegally entering the country to sneak into the United States with the help of international agents. The specially arranged Boeing 747-400 charter place carrying 311 Indians- 310 men and one woman- reached Delhi airport on Friday morning.

New Delhi, October 18: Over 300 Indian nationals were deported to New Delhi by the Mexican immigration authorities for illegally entering the country to sneak into the United States with the help of international agents. The specially arranged Boeing 747-400 charter place carrying 311 Indians- 310 men and one woman- reached Delhi airport on Friday morning. The plane landed at 5 am and they were inside the airport for several hours to complete their arrival formalities. The images, which were released by the National Institute of Migration of Mexico, shows Indian nationals walking out of the aircraft.

Indians deported by Mexico

Gaurav Kumar, a deportee, speaking to ANI said, "Our agent sent us through forests. We walked through forests for about 2 weeks then we were deported from Mexico. Only Indians were deported while people from Sri Lanka, Nepal and Cameroon are still there. I had sold agricultural land and gold, and paid Rs 18 lakhs to the agent."

Reacting to the development, Mark Morgan, the acting Commissioner of US Customs and Border Protection, said that the unprecedented repatriation of the Indians is a “strong message to human smugglers”. Majority of deportees are from Punjab who had travelled to Mexico at regular intervals.
