New Delhi, November 13: Journalist and India Today prime time anchor Gaurav Sawant has been accused of sexual harassment and assault by journalist Vidya Krishnan. Krishnan has alleged that she was harassed during a reporting trip in Beas in 2003, which was one of her earliest reporting assignments. A reportage in news and culture magazine The Caravan carried the report.

However, Gaurav Sawant, who is Executive Editor at India Today, has denied the allegations against him and called the report in The Caravan as "baseless" and "completely false". Check his tweet below:

Earlier, journalist turned politician MJ Akbar had to resign from the post of junior Foreign Minister after a barrage of sexual misconduct charges on him from multiple women journalists. #MeToo Movement Grips Indian Politics; Female Journalist Accuses Union Minister MJ Akbar Of Making Sexual Advances.

It all started when a female journalist, who was new to the profession then, accused the editor turned minister MJ Akbar of making sexual advances when Akbar allegedly called her for an interview in a hotel room in South Mumbai. As per her accounts, the union minister offered her a drink and tried to force herself on her.

Journalist Vinod Dua has also been accused by a film-maker of sexual misconduct, claiming he once tried to slobber her face in a parking lot. In a Facebook post, the woman alleged Vinod Dua had humiliated her when she had gone for an interview in 1989. She further said Dua had stalked her sexually harassed her. Dua, who has been associated with news portal The Wire, is facing an internal investigation by the news portal into the charges levelled on him.
