Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal has come out in support of the #meeToo movement. Maliwal said that for many years, women in our country were living in an atmosphere of scare that if they speak out, then they only will be victimised.
New Delhi, October 10: Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal has come out in support of the #meeToo movement. While speaking to a news agency, ANI, Maliwal said that for many years, women in our country were living in an atmosphere of scare that if they speak out, then they only would be victimised. She further added that now the women are now raising their voice on social media against the wrong done to them, which is a welcome change.
The DCW chief also stated that the women should also file a complaint against the men who had sexually harassed them, so that they could be taught a lesson. She also criticised the statement of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP, Udit Raj for his controversial comment. Yesterday, while commenting on the ongoing '#MeToo' campaign, said women are habitual of making allegations of sexual assault against men for money. The #MeToo movement is gaining momentum in India as more women are coming out in the open to name and shame people who have sexually assaulted and harassed them. It all started with Bollywood actress accusing Nana Patekar of sexual misconduct during the sets of a movie, after which many women came forward to share their traumatic experience.
