The Odisha government on Monday declared a holiday in Bhubaneswar for schools and all educational institutions on November 27 in the view of the Opening ceremony of Men's Hockey World Cup 2018.

Bhubaneswar, November 27: The Odisha government on Monday declared a holiday in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for all schools and educational institutions on November 27 in the view of the Opening ceremony of Men's Hockey World Cup 2018. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) issued a notification on Twitter which said that the schools and educational institutions in Bhubneshwar will remain closed for the inaugural event of Hockey World Cup 2018, while educational institutions and government offices across the state will remain functional till half-day (1.30 pm) on November 27 (Tuesday).

Odisha is set to host the 14th edition of Men's Hockey World Cup that will be played at Kalinga Stadium from November 28 to November 16. A total of 16 countries are participating in the tournament, which includes Argentina, Belgium, New Zealand, Australia, Netherlands, Germany, England, China, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, South Africa, Spain and Malaysia.
