In a move to restrict the entry of unknown people in college premises, Chaudhary Charan Singh University in Meerut has imposed a ban on the usage of scarves by women to cover their face. Although the college has received mixed reaction, the Proctorial Board of the University said that it was an important move as the entry of unknown people was spoiling the college's atmosphere. In another surprise move, the same college issued an order barring students from wearing 'revealing' clothes.

College authorities have claimed that several unknown people were caught inside the premises in the past, who failed to show identity cards when they were asked for verification. They said that women covering their faces made it difficult to distinguish between college students and outsiders.

Chief Proctor Alka Chaudhury told ANI, "Girls from outside the campus were found inside the college premises. Classes have not started yet, and a lot of unknown students were being found loitering the campus." She further added, "Currently, we are leaving them with a warning, however, if this increases we will inform the police." The principal of the college said, "This is just a measure to restrict the entry of unknown people which is degrading the atmosphere of the college."

Explaining the move behind the decision to ban revealing clothes, principal Abha Chandra said, "In a recent meeting conducted with the proctor board and anti-ragging board, it has been decided that girls will not be allowed to wear revealing clothes and the boys will not be allowed in shorts on college campus. This will ensure discipline and prevent harassment of women students." The principal further said that 'revealing' clothes meant clothes with deep neck and low-waist fall under this bracket.

Even though the rule faced backlash, several students also came in support of the decision and said that the ban was needed for the betterment of the college environment. There are about 10,000 students enrolled at the college and are expected to comply with the diktat.
