Lucknow, December 17: The board of revenue of the government of Uttar Pradesh has sought immediate response from district magistrates (DMs) over the name change of three districts in the state. The Yogi Adityanath-led government has asked for a reply from the three DMs as there was a demand to change the name of Hapur as Mahant Avaidyanath Nagar and Ghaziabad as Mahant Digvijay Nagar. According to a report by TOI, the state government has sought a reply with an aim to close the demand for changing the name of Meerut district to Pandit Nathuram Godse Nagar and renaming of Ghaziabad and Muzaffarnagar districts. The name change reference was mentioned in the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) of Uttar Pradesh government.
The report further quotes sources saying that the district administration of Hapur has turned down the request to rename the district after the guru of CM Yogi Adityanath. However, the letter does not mention what name change has been sought for Muzaffarnagar. The TOI report states that the board officials said they need to close the case which had complaints raised by people, within a limited time frame. If the references are not closed within a deadline, they will get reflected as outstanding issues. Moreover, officials will have to give explanation when these are taken up during review meetings by the CM. Agra to Be Renamed Agravan?
