Meerut, November 6: In a tragic incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, a three-year-old girl named Vartika died from suffocation after being left inside a car for four hours on October 30 in Kankerkheda. The incident occurred when Lance Naik Naresh, an acquaintance of the girl’s family and fellow army personnel, allegedly left the child locked in his vehicle while he went to have liquor party with his colleagues.

Vartika’s father, Sombeer Poonia, a soldier stationed in Meerut’s ordnance unit, filed a complaint on Tuesday accusing Naresh of negligence, leading the police to register a case of involuntary manslaughter. Sombeer, originally from Haryana’s Jind district, has served in Meerut for the past four years and lives with his family, including his wife Ritu and their two daughters, in Rajesh Enclave Army Colony in Fazalpur. Meerut: Man Molests Minor Girl Returning From Tempe in Broad Daylight in Bhawanpur, Police Responds After Disturbing Video Surfaces.

According to Sombeer’s account, Naresh, a resident of Himachal Pradesh, offered to take Vartika for a car ride while she was playing outside their residence. Despite Ritu’s initial refusal, Naresh reportedly took Vartika with him and drove to Rohata Road, where he allegedly left her locked in the car. Family member Krishan stated that Naresh took Vartika at around 10:15 AM. By 2:00 PM, after Vartika had not returned, the family began searching for her. When they contacted Naresh, he reportedly claimed he was on duty, adding to their concern. Meerut Casino Raid: Police Raid Harmony Inn Hotel for Illegally Running Casino; 1.5 Crore Casino Coins Seized, 8 Including Owner Arrested (Watch Video).
