Bhopal, September 2: In what is believed to be a case of medical negligence in Madhya Pradesh, an infant died after he was allegedly vaccinated in Ujjain district. According to a tweet by ANI, the incident took place in Limboda village on Sunday. After the incident was reported, immunisation Officer, KC Verma said that the vaccine has been kept aside and will be inspected. The official added saying that five other kids were also given the same vaccine that was given to the deceased child. "5 children were also given the same vaccine that was given to this child. We are being told that the rest of them fell ill too and had to be admitted in hospital", Verma said.

In August, there were reports that the government is planning to expand the coverage of Rotavirus vaccine across the nation. The vaccine protects children from rotavirus infections, which has become the leading cause of severe diarrhoea, in all states. Reports inform that the vaccine is currently available only in 28 states and union territories in India.
