Bhopal, July 5: In another incident of medical apathy in the country, a woman in Madhya Pradesh was forced to give birth to a child in an cycle-rickshaw due to non-availability of ambulance on time. According to a tweet by ANI, the woman gave birth to a child in a rickshaw outside Kathi District Hospital as the ambulance was not available. Dr Jay Prakash, doctor of the hospital, saud there was some misunderstanding that the hospital authorities couldn't admit the woman, later entire medical staff helped her. Medical Apathy: 60-Year-Old Patient Declared Dead by Doctors of Delhi Ganga Ram Hospital, Found Alive While Being Taken for Last Rites.

The doctor further informed that both, the mother and the child are healthy now. Prakash further added saying that the ambulance couldn't reach the woman on time as it had gone to Jabalpur with a serious patient.

A similar incident of medical apathy was reported from Madhya Pradesh in June this year where a patient in a hospital was dragged on a bedsheet to X-ray room allegedly due to unavailability of a stretcher. The video of the incident which went viral on social media showed the hospital staff at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose (NSCB) Medical College in Jabalpur dragging a patient to the X-Ray room on a bedsheet.

Reports inform that as soon as the video went viral on social media, the Dean of the NSCB Medical College suspended three people over their involvement in the act and said strict action would be taken against the guilty.
