Jabalpur, June 30: In yet another case of medical apathy in the country, a patient in a hospital in Madhya Pradesh was dragged on a bedsheet to X-ray room allegedly due to unavailability of a stretcher. According to a video by ANI, the staff at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose (NSCB) Medical College in Jabalpur was seen dragging a patient to the X-Ray room on a bedsheet, while a relative of the patient was seen following them. According to reports, Dr Navneet Saxena said three people were suspended after the incident and the administration has also launched an inquiry after which action will be taken against all who are found guilty. "3 persons have been suspended by the administration. An inquiry is underway, and action will be taken against all found guilty," Saxena told reporters.

Incidences of medical apathy have been reported from several parts of the country. In the last week, a similar incident of medical apathy was reported from Bihar’s Darbhanga where doctors plastered the right hand of a child who suffered fracture on left hand. Another incident of medical apathy was reported from Jharkhand where a 4-month-old pregnant woman was denied ambulance and was later taken to hospital on bike in Ranchi. Reports inform that the woman was in an unconscious condition and was profusely bleeding when she was taken to the health centre by his family members.

In Maharashtra, a patient with a broken leg was dragged with the help of a bedsheet by her relatives due to unavailability of a stretcher at a government hospital in Nanded earlier this week. In the video that was widely circulated on social media, a woman could be seen being dragged by two of her relatives in Dr. Shankarrao Chavan Government Medical College and Hospital.
