Srinagar, November 16: In a case of shocking apathy highlighting the plight of healthcare services, a two-year-old baby in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district died as the district administration refused to provide an ambulance. The incident took place on Thursday, November 15, and the baby suffering from Pneumonia was referred to a Jammu hospital by the doctor. The family of the 2-year-old victim was denied an ambulance even as the baby was battling for life. Later, the family members as well as the villagers protested against the government's apathy and failure to act in time. Awaiting Ambulance, Woman Delivers Baby on Road in Rajasthan.
The family of the two-year-old then carried the body of the baby in their hand in a bus for about 200 kilometres. The baby was declared brought dead at the hospital.
As per media reports, the family has been demanding that an FIR be filed against the Kishtwar administration, however, no FIR was registered till the time of writing this report.
