The case was reported on Thursday, when a Faridabad-based couple, Bhavna and Mahesh, had boarded a train from Hathras to return to their village.
Bhopal, Sept 15: The valour of a Hathras policeman is being hailed for ensuring that a pregnant woman, suffering from labour pain, got admitted to the hospital before her condition deteriorated. The cop, identified as Sonu Kumar Rajora, carried the woman in arms to the medical facility as no ambulance was available.
The case was reported on Thursday, when a Faridabad-based couple, Bhavna and Mahesh, had boarded a train from Hathras to return to their village. At the Mathura Cantonment station, they alighted the train as Bhavna reported labour pain.
Since they were new to the place, they appealed locals for help. Shortly, Rajora, who is the GRP station house officer, arrived for help. Since ambulance were not available on emergency basis, he called an autorickshaw and took the couple to the Mathura district hospital.
The doctor, however, asked him to take Bhavna to the women's facility, which was 100m away. Since no rickshaw or ambulance was available, he carried her in his arms.
Mahesh, while speaking to reporters, said he was not even able to thank Rajora as he left immediately after ensuring that Bhavna was safely admitted.
Rajora, after being later approached by reporters to comment on his heroic act, said it was his duty as a policeman to help the couple.
