Mathura, Aug 15: Lakhs of pilgrims paid obeisance to the principal deity of the famed Banke Behari temple on Hindola Utsav in Vrindavan till nearly midnight on Tuesday.
"Owing to foolproof arrangements followed by extension in the timings of the temple, over two lakh pilgrims paid obeisance to the deity, without any untoward incident," DM Sarvagya Ram Mishra said.
The temple complex was reverberating with excitement from morning till evening, Gyanendra Goswami, a sewakar at the temple said. "Next year I will pay obeisance with my family," said Dr Shailendra who was encouraged by the new arrangements made. Shailendra had come with his friends this time.
Hindola Utsav would continue up to Raksha Bandhan in other temples of Vrindavan, however, in Behari Ji temple, it would come only next year the festival in this temple is observed only for a day on Hariyali Teej, said Shashank Goswami, another sewakar.
