Mathura, October 28: At least three people were critically injured and five vehicles were engulfed in fire after a gas tanker exploded on Yamuna Expressway in Mathura on Saturday night. According to a tweet by ANI, the tanker caught fire after it rammed into another gas tanker in Surir near Milestone 85. Reports inform that the fire which engulfed five other vehicles, was later brought under control by fire tenders.

The investigation into the matter is currently underway. The injured ones were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. According to details available, police was present at the site of the accident. Man in Jaguar Peeps Out to 'Spit Gutkha', Rams Speeding Car into Yamuna Expressway Divider. 

This is the second such road accident on the Yamuna Expressway in the last two days. Earlier this week, a tourist bus collided with a stationary truck on the Yamuna Expressway near Jewar, taking lives of four people and injuring 13 others. Earlier this month, four people were charred to death and nearly 10 passengers suffered burn injuries after a truck and a passenger bus collided with each other near Ulundurpet in Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu. Reports inform that the bus was carrying 23 passengers on board and was headed to Trichy from Chennai. According to reports by PTI, the accident occurred when the bus hit the truck while it was making a U-turn. This resulted in the fuel tank exploding, causing a fire.
