Bengaluru, June 3: In a tragic incident, a man in Karnataka hanged his wife and son to death after the family was unable to repay a personal loan. According to reports, upset over the financial condition and inability to clear dues, the father hanged his wife and 12-year-old son to death. In what is believed to be an incident of mass suicide, the family had decided on a 'suicide pact' after being unable to clear debt of a private loan worth five lakh rupees. According to a report by TOI, the incident took place at their residence in Vibhutipura, near Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Bengaluru on Sunday. The 48-year-old man has been arrested by Police. Burari Deaths Mystery: Tommy, Pet Dog of Delhi Family, Dies of Heart Failure. 

According to a reports, while the man committed the crime, his 17-year-old daughter filmed the incident. After seeing her mother and brother die, the teenage stopped her father, Suresh Babu, from killing her brother. As soon as the incident was reported, police began the investigation over his suspected role in his wife and son’s suicide at their residence in Bengaluru.

According to TOI, the video that went viral on social media shows the man forcefully hanging his son from the ceiling fan as his wife and her daughter move around. The girl is heard pleading to her father to spare her brother.

Abdul Ahad, deputy commissioner of police (Whitefield division) was quoted in the TOI report saying that Babu's daughter filmed him on her mobile phone forcefully hanging her brother. Ahad added saying that after the video went viral on social media, the incident came to light and Babu was arrested and is being interrogated.

In 2018,  11 members of a family were found dead at their residence in Burari in the national capital. The 11 bodies - seven females and four males - were recovered from a two-storey house on July 1. According to reports, ten of them were hanging with their hands tied, mouths gagged and eyes covered with cloth pieces. The eldest in the family- which was mainly into grocery and plywood businesses-was found lying dead.
