New Delhi, October 4: The Delhi Government's Sentence Review Board (SRB) on Thursday rejected the early release application of Manu Sharma and two other high profile convicts. Sharma is serving a life term for killing Jessica Lal in 1999. The SRB also rejected the application of Sushil Sharma and Santosh Kumar Singh. Sushil was convicted in the tandoor murder case, while Kumar was proved guilty in raping and murdering Priyadarshini Mattoo.
Sabrina Lal, sister of Jessica Lal who was shot dead at a crowded party in April 1999, has no objection to the release of the killer, Manu Sharma, who is serving life imprisonment in the murder case. Reportedly, Sabrina no longer holds any grudge against Sharma because she feels there is no point in doing so as she believes in the Christian philosophy of forgiveness.
According to her, the culprit has already suffered in the last few years for his crime and she doesn't want to hold any grudge against him anymore. Recent reports state that Sharma has been staying in an "open jail" on grounds of good conduct. Sharma was sentenced to life in prison for killing Jessica Lal after she denied him a drink at a party.
According to the Tribune report, the three cases are among 49 such requests lined up for consideration of the panel chaired by Delhi Home Minister Satyendra Jain.
