Manohar Parrikar Health Update: Goa CM Meets BJP MLAs at Residence, Minister Mauvin Godinho Says He's 'Recovering Well'
Speaking to reporters, Godinho said he is 'making no exaggeration' in claiming that Parrikar's health has drastically improved in recent times.
Panaji, December 1: Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who is reeling under pancreatic ailment, met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs at his official residence in Panaji's Dona Paula on Saturday. Following the meeting, State Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho said the CM is "recovering well".
Speaking to reporters, Godinho said he is "making no exaggeration" in claiming that Parrikar's health has drastically improved in recent times. He looked "healthy", the Minister said, adding that a detailed one-on-one discussion was held by the Chief Minister with the BJP legislators. Parrikar Wanted to Resign as Health Worsened, High Command 'Didn't Allow': Vijai Sardesai.
During the discussion, Parrikar listened to the issues faced by them at constituency-level and offered solutions, Godinho claimed, adding that the "discussion was very lively".
Notably, Parrikar has remained at his residence since October 15 -- when he was discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. Since then, he has held closed-room meetings with Ministers and bureaucrats, but has refrained from speaking to the media or general populace.
After the Opposition's chorus grew demanding Parrikar's resignation, the BJP was forced to release images of the Cabinet meeting chaired by Parrikar at his residence last month. In the photos shared online, the Goa CM looked fragile, sitting on a couch with Ministers around him.
BJP ally and State Tourism Minister Vijai Sardesai had recently contended with the Opposition's charge that the administration has slowed down in absence of a full-time CM. Sardesai, however, did not join the bandwagon demanding Parrikar's resignation. The Goa Forward Party (GFP) chief expressed optimism that Parrikar would soon recover and effectively discharge his duties.
