Panaji, October 14: Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was brought to Panaji, Goa on Sunday after he was discharged from All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi earlier in the day. Parrikar has been undergoing treatment for a pancreatic ailment and today returned to his home state. According to sources in the AIIMS, Parrikar was shifted to ICU for a while after his condition deteriorated on Sunday. But later, the administration decided to discharge him, reports informed.
Parrikar, 62, was flown to the national capital on September 15 after his health declined. The Goa Chief Minister has been undergoing treatment for a pancreatic ailment and was is being examined by a team of doctors at the premier hospital. "The chief minister is likely to be brought to Goa in a special flight on Sunday from Delhi. The doctors who are treating him at the hospital would certify on Sunday morning whether he is fit to travel back home," the official of the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said on Saturday. Parrikar has been ailing since mid-February and has been treated at different hospitals including those in Goa, Mumbai and the United States of America. According to a PTI report, Parrikar met Goa BJP's core committee members and ministers from coalition partners at AIIMS on Friday. The leaders discussed ways to ensure his government functions normally during his absence from office due to ill health.
