Panaji, March 16: A former BJP MLA on Saturday confirmed that ailing Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar's health was stable amid reports that his condition had worsened.

Siddhath Kunkolienkar, who is also Parrikar's close aide, said that state government doctors were conducting regular check-ups on him. Manohar Parrikar Wanted to Resign as Health Worsened, BJP High Command 'Didn't Allow': Goa Minister Vijai Sardesai.

"Currently there are doctors from the Goa Medical College (GMC). Regular check-ups are being conducted... He is stable," Kunkolienkar told the media after visiting Parrikar's residence near Panaji.

Parrikar was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer in February 2018. Earlier on Saturday, media reports said that Parrikar's health had deteriorated due to a sharp drop in his blood pressure.

The Chief Minister's Office in a statement dismissed the claim, saying: "With respect to some reports in media it is hereby stated that honourable Chief Minister's health parameters continue to be stable".

The former Defence Minister has been in and out of hospitals in Goa, Mumbai, Delhi and New York since he was diagnosed with cancer. He was admitted to the Goa Medical College for nearly a week last month after he suffered from internal bleeding. Earlier this month, he was admitted to the GMC for "tests and examinations", but was released from the hospital on the same day.
